What is it that makes one an "It girl"?

Firstly, they seem to possess an intrinsic sense of style; most likely something they were born with.

Secondly, they command attention through their careful confidence and attitude, giving them power to create new trends.

Blake Lively

Finally, they're magnetic. They have an absolute attraction, mesmerising women into emulating their look - no matter the cost.

Chloe Sevigny

These women are the style leaders from which we draw inspiration to create our own semi-unique style identity.

From them, we can learn and fashion our own sense of "new"; that is, should we so choose...

The Alexa

“A phenomenon” is how Anna Wintour, editor of US Vogue, describes model, TV presenter, print journalist and style icon Alexa Chung.

Born in Hampshire England in November 1983, Chung’s striking looks - a fusion of her British and Chinese heritage - and innate style-ability have made her iconic.

She is the ultimate 'style muse' for various fashion designers due to her aptitude for combining vintage and modern designer pieces to achieve the perfect balance of "street chic" and glamour.

Chung has modeled for numerous international brands, including DKNY Jeans, Vivienne Westwood, Italian sneaker brand Superga and Australian fashion label Antipodium.

In her role as contributing editor of British Vogue, she has interviewed some of the fashion industry’s most influential designers, including Karl Lagerfeld and Christopher Kane.

A frequenter of best dressed lists and the recipient of the British Style Award for three years running at the British Fashion Awards, it is rare for Chung not to be seen sitting front row at a runway show wholly entrenching herself in the fashion scene.

Most of you will know of Alexa Chung without even realising it.  She is the inspiration behind Mulberry’s 2009 handbag, the “Alexa”.  A creation that makes Chung simply...unforgettable.

The Hottest Thing on the Catwalk Scene: Cara Delevingne

One British model is currently making waves in the fashion scene and THAT is Carla Delevingne.

Having dominated catwalks at Paris Fashion Week this year and graced the covers of various high profile fashion magazines, including Vogue UK and Vogue Korea, Delevigne’s name is growing in infamy.

Currently the face of Burberry’s beauty campaign, the young model has featured in advertising campaigns for brands that include Chanel.  She was also awarded the title of Model of the Year for 2012 at the British Fashion Awards.

If you have seen the recent cinema release of Anna Karenina starring Keira Knightley, you may be surprised to know it was Delevingne who played the role of Princess Sorokina, the marriage interest of Count Vronsky (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson).

Delevingne is being dubbed by industry insiders as “the next Kate Moss”.  With her striking looks and unruffled attitude, there’s little doubt this is more than just a possibility...

My Style Icon: Olivia Palermo

I have a total style crush and it is on the amazingly fashionable and dazzlingly beautiful Olivia Palermo. The 27-year-old American-Italian socialite, model, actress and fashion blogger has nailed her style (which is, by the way, sophisticated and classic, with a hint of edginess and glamour), cementing her status as one of the most envied fashionistas on the planet.

Olivia is my style inspiration… who's yours?

The Unconventional Fashionista - Anna Dello Russo

Anna Dello Russo is a modern day style icon.  She is also the editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan.  A self-described “passionate fashionista”, Anna is renowned for her very distinct, fashion-forward and often outrageous dress sense.

Anna spent 18 years at Conde Nast Italia starting as a Fashion Editor at Vogue Italia, progressing to Editor of L’Uomo Vogue from 2000-2006. She current lives in the very fashionable city of Milan.

I personally admire Anna’s daring style – she’s not afraid to push the boundaries of fashion and shun convention to achieve a prolific and unique look.  Hence, I make it my mission to follow her blog, which you can check out here.
