A Magazine Curated By...

A couple of weeks ago I attended an exhibition and cocktail party at ASSIN in Paddington, Sydney in honour of a magazine I had not previously heard of titled, “A Magazine Curated By”.

"A Magazine Curated By" is unlike any other in that each issue is presented from the perspective of a renowned fashion designer.  The designer is responsible for selecting a particular theme reflecting their ethos and then filling the magazine with both written and visual pieces they find interesting and inspirational.

Well-written and beautifully presented, only 12 issues of the Belgian publication have been released since its inception - the first curated by fashion designer Maison Martin Margiela.

The current issue released last month is curated by milliner Stephen Jones.  Dedicating his edition to the creator of Vanity magazine, Anna Piaggi, Jones chose to explore the subject of illustration, showcasing the “astonishing creativity and sensitivity” of his “illustrator friends”.  The current edition features a piece on burlesque artist Dita Von Teese, as well as rare illustrations of Christian Dior’s designs.

Adieu Grazia

Five years after launching in Australia, we bid farewell to iconic fashion magazine Grazia.

Self-described as an “endless well of fashion tips and wardrobe overhauls”, the magazine was just not cutting it, with readership numbers dramatically plummeting in the last few months.

But, never fear!

For those of you who crave up-to-the minute fashion news and style advice, my blog is now here ;-)

The Unconventional Fashionista - Anna Dello Russo

Anna Dello Russo is a modern day style icon.  She is also the editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan.  A self-described “passionate fashionista”, Anna is renowned for her very distinct, fashion-forward and often outrageous dress sense.

Anna spent 18 years at Conde Nast Italia starting as a Fashion Editor at Vogue Italia, progressing to Editor of L’Uomo Vogue from 2000-2006. She current lives in the very fashionable city of Milan.

I personally admire Anna’s daring style – she’s not afraid to push the boundaries of fashion and shun convention to achieve a prolific and unique look.  Hence, I make it my mission to follow her blog, which you can check out here.
