An explosion of colour lit up the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Monday night, as models sported swimwear in a vast array of hues, prints and styles (think anywhere from strapless underwire bikinis to full-piece costumes with plunge necklines; very brief bottoms to high-waisted panties) at the Group Swim show. On display were the Spring Summer 2013/14 collections by labels maidenlove, SKYE & Staghorn, Gypsea and Surface Too Deep; each reminiscent of the designers' inimitable creative vision and style.
Metallic colours and a kaleidoscope of contrasting digital floral, geometric and animal prints, featured heavily in maidenlove's collection, whilst SKYE & Staghorn's designs emanated a "sports luxe" feel. Working contemporary cuts mostly in block-colours of khaki greens, blues and black, with accents of neoprene and mesh, their collection has particular appeal to the woman seeking an ultra-modern swimwear look.
Gypsea and Surface Too Deep's collections also played with artistic prints to create designs akin to "wearable art".
I was invited as a guest of SKYE & Staghorn at Monday night's show and took a few sneaky snaps to create the montage below.
